Following on from the highly successful event in February 2008 at the Bonar Hall, Dundee it is hoped that this event will at least equal that success if not improve upon it. Over £5,500 was raised from last years event, which sponsored Guide Dog pup Freedom who is now undergoing training at Guide Dogs for the Blind, Forfar. Freedom is a marvellous dog that touched the hearts of all who came into contact with him. With the help of the public and sponsors it is hoped that this years event will again allow for a Guide Dog puppy to be sponsored. All funds raised locally are spent locally on Guide Dogs.
Guide Dogs rely entirely on public generosity to sustain their guide dog services. Every year they receive help from thousands of volunteers but they are always looking for more help. They need people to become members of their local fundraising branch and to help at collections and events; maintain the books; organise trading goods; or coordinate collection boxes. They also need drivers and people who are willing to become speakers or liaise with local schools or other volunteers. In addition they run several national events throughout the year which you might like to take part in: check the website for details.
